FORT DODGE – Farm News is hosting its 15th annual ag show from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 and from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Iowa Central Community College East Campus, 2031 Quail Ave., Fort Dodge.
This location that formerly housed Smithway Motor Xpress on the east side of Fort Dodge, is the same location as the 2015 ag show.
More than 30,000 square feet of exhibitor space and exhibitors from Iowa and surrounding states will showcase their latest state-of-the-art technology in grain products, equipment, ag services, seed varieties and farm toys. Parking is free, and there is no admission charge to the show.
Those attending the show can register to win a Kubota, two-piece, 19-drawer toolbox, valued at more than $2,300. The toolbox is provided by R & J Material Handling, of Fort Dodge, and Farm News.
This year’s speaker are:
A). Kelvin Leibold, an Iowa State University Extension farm and ag business management specialist, will speak from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 30. His presentation, “Staying Competitive in a Global Market,” is sponsored by Great Western Bank, Fort Dodge.
B). Bob Streit, independent crop consultant and Farm News “Crop Watch” columnist, will speak from 10:30a.m. on Nov. 30. His presentation, “Lessons from 2016 and the Challenges for 2017” is sponsored by John Pitzer Sales.
C). Myron Friesen, part-owner and financial representative for Farm Financial Strategies, will speak from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 30. His presentation, “Farm Succession Strategies” is sponsored by Farm Financial Strategies.
D). Jerry Nelson, author and Farm News “County Agent Guy” columnist, will speak from 3 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 30. His presentation,”Dear County Agent Guy: The Story of an Accidental Author,” is sponsored by United Bank of Iowa, Fort Dodge.
E). Elwynn Taylor, Iowa State University climatologist, will speak from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Dec. 1. Huis presentation, “Weather outlook for 2017,” is sponsored by Great Western Bank, Fort Dodge.
F). David Kruse, president of CommStock Investments and author of the CommStock Report, will speak from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Dec. 1. His presentation will be “Don’t Look Down There is No Safety Net.”
G). Steve Ferguson, an Iowa Finance Authority ag program specialist, will speak from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 1. His presentation, “Beginning Farmer Loan and Tax Credit Programs,” is sponsored by The Country Store.
Water will be served during the speaker presentations by Blue Ribbon Pelham Waters, Fort Dodge.
Lunch is available on-site by the Webster County Pork Producers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, and by the Webster County Beef Producers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 1. Meals will be served by the Growth Alliance Ag Leaders with the help of Iowa Central Community College agricultural students.
There will be a free pancake breakfast for the first 525 guests from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 1. The breakfast is catered by Chris Cakes and is sponsored by Farm Bureau Webster County.
